Intro
Have you ever tought that you have the power to realize your wildest dreams?
Are you curious to know how?
If the answer is yes, you’ll enjoy this article. I’ll uncover hidden aspects of what is usually called law of attraction and I’ll show you how to make law of attraction works for you.
Lies and truths about law of attraction
You probably already heard about law of attraction and what is normally told that you have the power to attract what you desire, you just have to be focused on that. So, for example, if you want more money in your life you just have to dream about it, think about it and money will come. That’s kind of magic and, I can’t deny, somehow attractive, buti if you seriously think to that you will recognize this is not possible in the real world. Then, am I telling you that law of attraction is a lie? No, I’m telling you that what you usually hear about law of attraction is unperfect. Law of attraction was born in budhist philosophy and it’s a quite more profund concept. The truth is (following the original idea) that we have the power to attract what we TRULY desire. The problem is that most of the time we don’t know what it is. We have the power to attract results that are aligned to our driving values and strengths. Only when there is this deep connection the magic can happen.
Step 1: Know your values and strengths
The very first step is to know your strengths and values. To know how to find out them read my article To realize your dreams seems quite an impossible enterprise? Here you have some easy steps to better know yourself and those strengths that maybe you haven’t exploited yet At the end you will find 4 questions that will help you find your authentic strengths and values.
Step 2: Ikigai – Life’s purpose to inform goals
To pass from what drives you to where to go you need to find out your life’s purpose. This can seem a quite mystic concept but it’s the foundation part if we want to attract what we truly desire. Here we discover what desires are connected to how we truly are.
The ikigai is a perfect tool for this purpose (side picture). As you can see in the picture, your ikigay is the perfect meeting of your passion (strengths and values), your mission, your vocation and your profession.
All you have to do is to answer to the questions (what do you love? What does the world need? What can you be paid for? What are you good at?) and find what is common.
Once you have your ikigai you should use that knowledge to inform your goals. For example, if my ikigai is to help people being more mindful through life coaching, then I can create a community, dedicate studies to the topic, create a programme, partnering with collegues with the same expertise and so on.
Step 3: Letting go
Law of attraction is about using the rational part of your brain and the unconscious one. The 1st and 2nd phase are all about the rational brain. What you need to make law of attraction works for you in this phase is to just live and let go. This can seem too simple but the truth is that what many times obstacle our hability to achieve what we desire is to think too much to it. Focusing too much on your goal can be stressing and a stressed brain is unable to find creative solutions when needed. To find something big and out of the box we need our creative brain work for us, but if we are always focused on “the problem” we prevent our creativity to flow. You may recall some difficult problems, maybe related to work, you have had to face and the solution coming while having a shower or walking in the nature, in other words when you were relaxed and not using your rational brain (if you want to know more, read “The creative spirit” by Daniel Goleman). That’s why it’s so important to set your goals and then forget.
Step 4: Journaling
“If I forget about my goals how can I know I achieved them?” – you may ask. This is a good observation but incomplete. First of all, the fact that we are not continuosly thinking to something doesn’t mean we are not aware about that. You are not continuosly thinking you are a senior consultant, you have 2 children and living in London and yet you know that. To complete the answer you should know that there is the last phase to make law of attraction works for you. You have to take time to be aware about what you did and what happened or other people did that is aligned to your goals and, from a wider point of you, to your ikigai. Journaling is a perfect exercise for that. Every evening, once a week or once a month, it doesn’t matter the frequency it totally work for our purpose. Why journaling is so important? It’s important because drive our attention and we recive what we focus on. I’ts not a secret that our toughts create reality, neurosciences widely demonstrated that. If I think I’m funny and people love me, in a party in which I know no one I will be open and friendly because I know people love me; on the other hand, if I think I’m hugly and people dislike me, in the same situation I probably won’t talk to anyone, because I will think people dislike me. And people respond to what we manifest, so, in the first case friendship, in the second case probably indifference. Not a magic at all: tought give motivation to our actions and our actions create reactions from other people. That’s why it’s so important to cultivate a positive mentality about your progression.
